8-Man
Faced with the possibility of losing their football program, officials at Toledo Christian High School have decided to think outside of the box.
The Eagles were expecting just 15 total players — including five incoming freshmen — entering the 2019 season.
That prospect seemed too risky for the physical welfare of their players, so TC athletic director Tim Wensink and football coach Andrew Skeels were forced to consider dropping football, or playing only a junior varsity schedule until the roster numbers increased in a future year.
Instead of opting for one of those obvious choices, in the words of Skeels, they chose to be pioneers and not settlers. The Eagles are one of the first teams in Ohio to play 8-man football.
