One of two paddlewheels on the sidewheel steamer Comet is seen at the bottom of Lake Ontario, near Kingston, Ontario. The ship, lying in 90 feet of water, was built at Kingston in 1848 and sank 13 years later after colliding with the American schooner the Exchange, on May 15, 1861, with the loss of three lives.
