Northwest Ohio Quarries

In Northwest Ohio there are three quarries popular for scuba diving. Does this make Northwest Ohio a mecca for scuba diving? Maybe not. But divers travel from all over the country, especially east of the Mississippi, and Canada to dive these sites. Why? They are excellent training sites in a social atmosphere. Click on the links below to take an underwater tour of each site.

White Star Park is located in Gibsonburg, southeast of Toledo. It's the only publicly owned owned of the three as it's part of the Sandusky County Park District.

Portage Quarry is located in Portage, just south of Bowling Green. This site has recently added a Hansa jet to the list of underwater attractions. Not as deep as Gilboa but a much larger quarry, Portage also has a nice swim beach and more camping area. It also has a nice fill station.

Gilboa Quarry, located in Ottawa, west of Findlay, is about 14 acres with depths of about 130 feet depending on the water level. There are numerous underwater attractions including a Gulfstream jet, bus, cars, boats and loads of trout, bass, perch, and even paddlefish. It's also a good place to camp and dive for a couple of days. Air and nitrox fills are available.
