The Great Storm of 1913 is the most destructive storm in Great Lakes History. Twelve ships were lost with their entire crews, eight of those ships on Lake Huron alone. Only Lake Ontario escaped the wrath of the storm. More than 250 people are likely to have died during the storm.Waves reached 35 feet in height and wind speeds nearing 80 mile-an-hour were recorded. Sixty-mile-an-hour winds were sustained for an incredible 16 hours.
